You never know who you'll meet when you go to the park in New York. It helps if there are some dogs to see who are 'off leash' during the hours that are okay for that and have a minute to visit with the owners (thank them, inquire what dog care requires in the city, if kids are part of the dog's life--most are but even if that's the case, always ask the owner and use common sense, because 'there can always be first time a nice doggie nips or knocks someone over, especially a little tot for instance.)

But back to the Who Did I meet and How that connects to Diabetes...I met 'by chance' the lovely spouse of the founder of the One Drop company. That was a while back but I've been a fan ever since and took it as a message from on high to tune in sooner than later.

That said, even with a longterm interest and concern for who might be most at risk for diabetes and how to help family and friends who might have it, it has taken me decades to tune in more closely to what's going on in the bloodstream, the pancreas and so on in these nifty human bodies. Animals likely are another story but I am curious to know if they may be prone to similar issues (not due to diet but genetics..or maybe poor diet.)

Okay so here's a link to part of their site which really could be on everybuddy's favorite list of ways to learn and support anyone with diabetes or learn how to prevent it if possible through healthy eating and moderate exercise.

Knowledge is one's friend and a great source of feeling empowered. See more on www.onedrop.com and learn the ins and outs of insurance, medications, options, diets, tracking numbers, getting free test strips (for measuring glucose levels), and more.

Bon Appetit for small meals and good living, nice friends and pets you can take for a walk and help people socialize! https://onedrop.today/2016/05/03/one-drop-guide-insulin-2/ Dr, Mark Hyman has an awesome website also that includes a talk about the 'violence' of bad food on the poor in the United States and others who may not be educated or able to follow good nutritional protocol.

Often there are food deserts which mean 'no fresh food' or affordable good food to speak of within walking or easy travelling distance. The information in his many books such as The Ultra Simple Diet and What Can You Eat (or should you eat?) are important. Let's keep track of what we can for one another with good information and encouragement to do 'the next right thing' even with some backsliding as may occur.
