Sympathies for the Loss of a Young Mother, Rosali Acquefreda, to Domestic Violence in Shelton CT

on Thu, 09/03/2020 - 23:50
This was a heartbreaking story to hear...and from what was on the news sounded like a difficult situation for such a young person...Rosali Acquefreda, age 20, was involved with him since she was 14...and that she had his child, a son. Apparently she feared him but tried to move on from past harm because they shared a child. Yet Andre LeFrancois, 22, snuffed out her life in Derby CT.

Her current partner sounded like her hero and was trying to protect her apparently by spending a great deal of time with her. I wish they could have had a better intervention and a safer place to live rather than live in fear as she apparently did...

Such a hard road for people in our state, country and times...Safe&Together Institute had helpful podcasts and programs... and educates countries and agencies about understanding what a victim is going through, along with her kids....More good guys could chime in any time with interest in learning and promoting ways to intervene with concerns..

.All communities should have plenty of 'safe houses' for women with secret locations and support as much as possible..It's basically a civil war kind of issue...and yet when a victim returns 'willingly' (even if no other options or with hopes to see things improve...etc) that is another set of problems often times.

With legal or custody issues that's a 10x situation and should not be treated lightly as it has been for many decades... Hopefully every town would have a reasonable set of responses, not unlike the volunteer fire and ambulance crews... but for all families (especially with young children) to have a lot of support...

Some states and counties are better than others, and some have improved due to a high infant mortality rate... More volunteer advocates from many fields could fill in the gaps...but practicing safer interactions is key too...a lot like the pandemic has been a reason to think everything through 'just in case...'

That's a lot but plenty more online and on Livfully.org in various posts to encourage community networking, self-care and future responses to many concerns people often face at one stage of life or the next...if they can reach the next...
