A Big Request for Support Now from LadybugHouse.Org in Seattle, Washington USA

on Thu, 11/14/2019 - 15:38

A powerful letter from Suzanne Corey Gwynn that she said I can share. I hope they can accept donations as well, but she is requesting letters to support the need for services to families facing end of life and medical challenges in the US much like they have in the United Kingdom.

Dear Friends, Families, Practitioners and Ladybug House Community Members and Others:

(Please see more  about this amazing caring resource on Ladyhouse.org  and at this link https://youtu.be/qjxRcSKcOOc

I am so grateful for each of you and over the past 39 years it has been an honor to care for your children. 30 years of night shift working in peds hem onc BMT units, L&D, Hospice I witnessed more exhaustion, financial, emotional, physical stress from families and so often saw families spend months even years in the hospitals.

This led me to fight to find away to build a community for families. Right now I'm needing to show that the need for support is real, the need for PTSD, bereavement, trauma, support, sibling support, rest and a place to have the whole family cared for like a lodge. November 20th, 2019 at noon we are hosting a meeting at Cambia Grove, 1800 Stewart St in Seattle Washington.

I'm also looking for letters that express your needs, I know the isolation is real. we have people  working on an app to help with the isolation that families feel and others constantly trying to find a way to create get togethers for support, Efforts have been started  a non-profit to help with funeral expenses.

The ongoing trauma and PTSD from both survivors and losses is real. The inability to pay for meals, travel, gas, hotels are all real. The reality of what happens in the community with no support is horrific . I am asking for your voices and I know that I'm asking for you to add another thing to your plate.

The UK has close to 60 palliative respite care homes for children, the UK is the size of Louisiana, the USA has 3.

Ladybug House is not about end of life, it is about supporting you and your family while you support your child, from diagnosis through the trajectory of the disease no matter the outcome.

It is about building a community for an unserved population. It is about giving families quality time during a very scary process.

If you can write a letter of support, please send it to suzanne@ladybughouse.org. If you can come in person or send a rep its November 20th at noon 1800 Stewart in Seattle at Cambia Grove. We can try to have it skyped or call in if that would be helpful.
Thank you all for allowing me to serve you.
Love Suzanne Gwynn

Let's join forces in our local, state and national networks to promote care along these lines. Perhaps online fundraisers are needed to get seed money going, but never estimate the magic of social media and the human heart, honoring people's experiences and efforts and dreaming out loud together with love and support! Now I have to pen a letter to Suzanne in support of the Ladyhouse.org Cause and the ways I have found it helpful to have support (much of my own pursuing but also the reality of the need to have support when caring for fragile people.) There's a lot of awareness now about these issues and keeping the messages going can provide part of the healing and help that is incredibly needed for many 'with no one on their team' and to keep the supportive networks strong for all. Kindly, Catherine Palmer Paton
