Not Trying to Keep These Events a Secret, Just Not Much Time to Post, So Here's the List for Canaan CT area events

on Sun, 07/11/2021 - 15:17

Hey there, as I'm heading out to the awesome Falls Village Car Show...and missed church at the FV Congregational Church right by the FV DM Hunt Library which is having a nice tag sale at Center on Main (also in bustling Falls Village next to, Drum Roll....The new Falls Village Cafe and Gallery and across from 100 Main Street specialty housewares and gift shop...sometimes we'll splurge for that special someone or event more than ourselves...)

Okay so back to the news of events in July 2021...North Canaan, just 7 miles up the road from Falls Village (which is also known as Canaan but that's not New Canaan in Fairfield County so make sure your GPS heads you up to the NW Corner of CT, not the SW one.) Railroad Days are coming with a talk by the Train Campaign which is seeking to bring passenger rail service to the tri-corner region (that's the unofficial 14th Colony of MA/CT/ NY.)

See the progress being made on that on their website. Also there are Fireworks on July 17th, a Carnival and more...for Railroad Days. Okay that's for starters, and tune into what's happening at Music Mountain with their lovely quartets and other events in Falls Village CT, this time up on the mountain...

For more fun and learning behind the scenes, check out the Southern Berkshire Toastmasters FB page and consider joining a Toastmasters Group online or near you...They'll be meeting in Great Barrrington starting in September and have a zoom option too hopefully! Only on Zoom in July and August so nice way to warm up to the wonderful program to grow in speaking and networking (informally...)

There is also a big online event in August through Toastmasters.org. While you're at it...check out what Rotary International if offering such as at triburyrotary.com or on FB. They are in The Woodbury CT area which is south of...you guessed it...the Litchfield County area, which also has a Rotary as do many areas. There are more connections between that and Toastmasters, so that's not your imagination. As for Chambers of Commerce they are pulling along nicely through all of these ups and downs in the world...and the more 'cross over the better' even with regular folks, retired or homemaker, parenting types too... Innovation comes on many levels and we Can and Should learn from one another, network and include more folks along the way.

See what WomensWisdom.net offers along those lines or Walking Our Talk (WOT) based in Great Barrington which are circles for women to grow in support and in their own journeys. There is a nice event today in Sheffield MA so see their site if up for a garden tour with medicinal herbs or feel free to make a donation to support that wonderful cause that keeps growing the grassroots efforts to help hundreds of women! Another great group to learn about is  Together Women Rise (formally Dining for Women) which addresses serious needs of people in countries around the world with talks and sometimes gatherings with donations going to the good cause monthly...

Best to all as they pursue dreams with teams of support... See more on other posts and on local FB pages. Creating private FB groups is a nice way to network for school classmates over the years and more. Asking people specifically to help or donate can be a good way to have a better response than widespread 'all call' efforts...but maybe some of each gets the job done at the end of the day...

Good luck and enjoy this special Sunday in July which marks one of my heroes in heaven who was born 99 years ago and lived to be 85....I believe he's still rooting for us and guiding many as he taught them to work hard and be a team player in life including as a member and father of large families who were rooted in one area (the SW for his family of origin then the NE for his own family)...We can choose to network more nowadays even if most people have much smaller families and are on the go.
