CT Death With Dignity Bill Discussed...Feb 2019, some insights..
I do think we need to have all options about assisted suicide as well as assisted ways to survive pain and difficulty (whether physical, mental, social, legal or otherwise) discussed and ideally have teams of people who are neutral but informed, compassionate people readily available to review the matters at hand. Many people are not familiar with various ideas about how to cope with life, death, possible quantum or spiritual aspects and much more... Pain is a big piece of the puzzle...and not an easy one by any stretch.
Many people are finding healing ways to cope with the pain with more natural approaches (energy work which release blockages...awareness of being 'in a lot of pain then realizing it passes, a bit like labor pains which can definitely be strong...) I would hope we could all lean into the idea that we could have ongoing voluntarily committees to really think through matters and provide support for anyone who needs the consults and follow through support to figure out any aspect of their life...then when the more serious matters arise people would feel they had a tribe of support to make decisions or even let others make them for them (if they feel they are not mentally well enough or up to it...) The Reconnection folks and most faith groups around the world mention they have heard that spiritually it is not ideal to 'check out'.
..If someone is near the end that may be one reason to find more help with pain relief rather than stopping one's life forces...Many suicidal people have reported they regret attempts (and I'm not sure how many were faced with illness, but likely many with drug addiction or depressing life factors..) I know this bill is about allowing those who are in a certain phase of their life with a level of competency decide this important matter.
Our cultures and faith journeys do influence our world views so again, worth having all the cards out on the table since it is not only an 'individual matter' but one that has repercussions throughout our society. Often people can find some relief in 'seeking the truth of their life experience..addressing fears, worries, grudges and other social aspects of their life.
Sometimes energy blocks shift with that (a sense of unconditional love and forgiveness not condoning harm done to one, but looking at things from a very spiritual perspective...) The ideas from a A Course In Miracles and such could be reviewed as well. Now by the time all That is done, a person may have to 'stay alive' long enough to think that through...but ideally everyone would do that well in advance and have support if indeed the pain and struggle seems 'the more merciful option.'.. People should not have to be alone in deciding and following through with trying to end their life, which can leave people in compromised physical health (unsuccessful attempts they never planned on..but that too should be well covered for all people who may venture into that zone... and offer the idea that that may also be part of our shared human journey.) Okay, I will put this on my blog to help keep the discussion going...
